What is Navamsa Chart or D9 chart

Navamsa means Navam Amsa or Ninth division of a sign or house. It is a divisional chart and has been given immense importance in Vedic Astrology. D9 chart or Navamsa is the 9th Division of a Sign and As 9th house indicates Dharma, it relates all the Dharma we have done in the previous birth due to which we will either gain or Suffer in this Life. A Strong Navamsa indicates Good deed in previous Life while a weak Navamsa indicates bad deed in previous Life.

There are 12 Sign or Rasi in entire zodiac and There are total 108 Navamsa (12 Sign x 9 Amsa =108 Navamsa) in Vedic Astrology. Remember 108 is a Scared Number in Hindu or Vedic System. It literally indicates the Nine aspects in our life.

How to calculate Navamsa chart and Navamsa Lagna- Navamsa Calculator

We Know that Every Sign is of 30 Degree. So to Calculate the Navamsa we will divide the 30 degree in 9 parts. So each part becomes 3 degree 20 minutes. 

Lets Give You an Example. You are Born with Aries Ascendant and Your Ascendant Degree is 10. We divide the Aries in 9 Equal part. So the first 3 deg 20 minute of Aries Sign will be the first Navamsa which is Aries itself, 3 Deg 21 minute to 6 Deg 40 minute will be the 2nd Navamsa which is Taurus, 6 Deg 41 minute to 10 Deg is 3rd Navamsa which is Gemini and So on. As your Lagna is in 10 Degree Aries, So your Navamsa Lagna will be Gemini.

But I am giving you a Simple Method by which you can Calculate Navamsa even without using any Software.

There is an easy method to calculate Navamsa. Just multiply the No of Previous House with 9. Then Add the No of Nakshatra Pada in the present Sign. Divide the Total by 12. The remaining will tell us the Navamsa Sign.

Suppose Sun is in 1 deg in Gemini. So the No of Previous Sign is 2. So 9*2=18. We have to add the Nakshatra Pada in the Present Sign. Sun has travelled only 1 Nakshatra Pada. So total is 18+1=19. If we divide it by 12, we get 7. So Sun will be in Libra Navamsa.

To calculate Navamsa, Your exact Date of birth, Time of Birth and place of Birth is required. The time Should be very accurate as Navamsa Lagna changes Within 6-7 minutes.

D9 chart Analysis for Planetary Strength

Navamsa chart is very important to understand the planetary Strength of a Horoscope. If a planet is in own Sign or in exaltation Sign or in Friendly Sign in Navamsa, it becomes Strong.

If a Debilitated Planet in Rashi chart becomes exalted in Navamsa, its debilitation is canceled and it is considered Strong. Such planet gives favorable results. 

In the Same way if a planet is exalted in D1 chart or Rasi chart but become debilitated in Navamsa, it fails to give good result and it is considered as weak.

If a planet is in enemy Sign in D9 chart it will not give expected results.

The Ascendant Lord or Navamsa Lagna Lord , the 5th Lord of Navamsa and 9th Lord of Navamsa should be well placed in D1 chart or Rashi chart for good fortune.

What is Vargottama planet

When a planet is in the same sign both in the Rashi chart and Navamsa chart, it is called Vargottama. In this case, the natal and Navamsa dispositor will be the same. Such a planet is extremely powerful and give good results.

Whenever a planet becomes Vargottama, the qualities of that planet will become the part of your character.

In our Vedic Astrology there are several types of Vargottama. Some of them gives very favorable results and some of them do not give favorable result.

If Mars is in Aries in both Rashi and Navamsa chart, it is said to be the own-house Vargottama. This own house Vargottama is very good and makes the planet very strong.

Puskara Navamsa are auspicious Navamsa which are ruled only by benefic planets. The planets in Pushkar Navamsa behave in an auspicious manner. How to read Navamsa chart for marriage

In case of marriage time prediction, we should not neglect the Navamsa or D9 chart. The Lagna Lord of Navamsa, 7^th Lord of Navamsa, planets sitting in the 7^th house of Navamsa plays an important role in predicting marriage.
